She's back on the water again...
Flat bottom girl has been a long standing name and charter boat in Naples Bay for years. Originally created by Captain Spencer Cootware to create the most enjoyable day for customers on the bay, the boat was built around the concept of “a great time” no matter the excursion, Flat Bottom Girl was designed to deliver the most memorable experience anyone could have.
Upon Spencers unexpected passing on July 25th, 2022, Captain Dean Murphy, who had operated the boat during Spencer’s time in Michigan over the summers, and Captain Shawn Smith, Spencer’s long time best friend and owner of Young & Knotty Charters, Maintained Flat Bottom Girl while her fate was found.
On November 15, 2022 Captain Dean became the proud owner of Flat Bottom Girl, fulfilling his long time dream of operating his own charter company. She’s since splashed back into Naples Bay, finding her new home at Bayfront Inn Hotel located right next to Spencer’s favorite watering hole Shane’s Cabana Bar right at Bayfront. Dean Continues to operate Flat Bottom Girl at the same high level of fun and safety that Spencer was so adamant about and keeping the name and legacy alive.

Captain Dean Murphy
Captain Dean Murphy has been working on the water for over a decade in Naples Bay. After nearly 8 years running backwater, deep sea, sightseeing, and Eco Tours for Pure Florida, Naples premier water tourism company, and functioning as their senior captain for the last few years, Dean began to branch out while still maintaining a working relationship with Pure Florida where he still fills in. Dean has since been subcontracting for multiple companies on the bay (Miss B Haven Charters, Naples Princess, Naples Nantucket Yacht Group, etc) as well as captaining private vessels and doing deliveries under his business Naples Nautical Services LLC on vessels from 26′ – 105′ and captaining boats as far north as Sag Harbor, NY and all the way down the East Coast.
